Transforming Defense Supply Chains: A Case Study in Military Innovation

The US Department of Defense operates the most complex supply chains in the world. However, according the Government Accountability Office (GAO), DoD supply chain management is both wasteful and high risk due to poor demand forecasting, ineffective inventory management, and inadequate strategic planning. To address these persisting problems by investigating the nature, causes, and consequences of demand uncertainty and supply variability, the US Army established the project to Transform Army Supply Chains (TASC).
